Sherando High School has named Megan Roberts its new cross country coach. Roberts, who teaches Spanish at Sherando and has served as an assistant cross country coach the past five years, succeeds Jaime McCarty. McCarty served as Sherando’s cross country coach over the past five years. In addition to serving as an assistant cross country coach at Sherando, Roberts has also been an assistant coach for the school’s swim and track teams.

Sherando Coordinator of Student Activities Jason Barbe says, “Coach Roberts has been a great asset to our athletic program serving as an assistant coach for several of our teams. The experience she’s gained and rapport she’s developed with members of the cross country team while serving as an assistant coach will help her as she transitions into the role of head coach.”

Roberts says, “I’m looking forward to serving as the head cross country coach and working together with our student-athletes and school community to build upon the success of the program.”

Roberts ran track and cross country as a student at Stonewall Jackson High School in Shenandoah County. She also ran track and cross country at Christopher Newport University.
