Sherando High School has named Garland Williams its new boys’ tennis coach. Williams, who has served as an interim tennis coach at Sherando on several occasions, succeeds Steve Jennings. Jennings stepped down as the school’s boys’ tennis coach at the conclusion of last season.

Williams says, “I’m looking forward to working with the boys’ tennis team and helping the individual student-athletes as well as the program grow. I’m a life-long educator who recognizes that athletics provides an opportunity for students to learn many valuable lessons and life skills such as teamwork, patience and the value of hard work. I’m looking forward to this new opportunity to serve students as a coach, mentor and teacher.”

Sherando High School Coordinator of Student Activities Jason Barbe says, “Coach Williams was a member of the Sherando High School faculty when the school opened in 1993 and has previously coached football and track. He has also served as our varsity boys’ basketball coach since 1998. He has a great deal of experience as both a teacher and coach and I’m confident he will do an outstanding job leading our boys’ tennis program.”
