Sherando High School has named Megan Roberts its new girls’ indoor track coach and Josh Ilnicki its new boys’ indoor track coach. Roberts and Ilnicki succeed Jaime McCarty.

Roberts, who teaches Spanish at Sherando, was named the school’s new cross country coach in July after serving five years as an assistant cross country coach at the school. She has also served as an assistant coach for the school’s swim as well as indoor and outdoor track teams.

Ilnicki is a math teacher at Sherando and also serves as an assistant cross country coach at the school. He previously served for six years as the head cross country and track and field coach at Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal.

Roberts says, “I’m excited about the opportunity to continue working with Mr. Ilnicki and the outstanding student-athletes who participate in Sherando’s indoor track program. I believe that we will make a great team and be able to bring some continuity to the program thanks to our involvement with both cross country and indoor track.”

Ilnicki says, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead Sherando’s boys’ indoor track program. I believe my previous experience as a head coach coupled with the rapport I’ve developed with student-athletes through my work with the cross country program will help ease my transition into this new role.”

Sherando High School Coordinator of Student Activities Jason Barbe says, “We are very pleased with the job Coach Roberts and Coach Ilnicki have done with our cross country program and are confident they will experience an easy transition into the indoor track season.”
